Many studies indicate that overuse of dietary supplements is unnecessary, and won't keep you from getting sicker than the average person. When the body gets more vitamins than it needs, it eliminates them through the kidneys.

What's in the Myers Cocktail?

Mix of several different vitamins

As shown on the January 17, 2013 Dr. Oz show, a Myers Cocktail contains 20% magnesium, 10% calcium, 10 grams of Vitamin C, and 2 grams of various B vitamins including Vitamin B12. According to Wikipedia, the cocktail is touted as an alternative therapy for fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, and asthma, and the cocktail was famously used by Michael Jackson for energy. (For those that don't remember, it was propofol that was used by Mr. Jackson when he was unable to sleep.) Other therapeutic uses of the cocktail include sinusits, rhinitis, upper respiratory tract infections, migraines, and muscle spasms. In clinical trials, results were equal to placebo for fibromyalgia symptoms, which surprisingly also equaled the success rate of FDA approved drugs for the condition. The Myers cocktail is named for a formulation invented by a Baltimore physician named John Myers and further developed by Dr. Alan Gaby.

Notes and Special Information

Special note: Don't overdo vitamin injections if you don't have to! You can usually get all the vitamins you need from a balanced diet or daily supplement.
